Positive self talk for healing trauma, addiction, anxiety and depression

Words have power, and the way we talk to and about ourselves can have a significant impact on our thoughts and behaviors. That’s where positive self talk comes in…repeating certain phrases to yourself can boost your self-esteem, reduce your stress, create a more positive mindset, motivate you to take certain actions, and improve your path to healing. This my feel silly when you start but eventually you will find this interaction with your own mind invaluable.
So, how can you start taking advantage of all the benefits of positive self talk for your healing. By choosing the phrases that will best serve your needs. Here are 10 ideas:
- I can be happy.
- I can be strong enough to get through this.
- My body is beautiful.
- I am learning to trust myself.
- I’m going to be alright.
- I can do whatever I put my mind to.
- I can be proud of myself.
- Today is going to be a great day.
- I’m worthy of love.
- I’m at peace with the things I can’t control.
Once you’ve created the affirmations you want to use, decide how you want to incorporate them into your routine—maybe you can say them as you’re getting ready in the morning, commuting to work, or winding down before bed. Some clients copy them down and carry them with therm. Or have a special place for them on their devices. Many people find it helpful to recite their affirmations out loud, but you can also say them to yourself, if preferred. No matter what, it’s important that you repeat them daily, since doing so makes it easier for your brain to adapt and create new thinking habits.
